Very good question, I ask that myself sometimes as well. I guess because it can finally be done; I always wanted some MIDI game music in browser games.
MIDI stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface. It acts as a digital music sheet: the file stores notes, timing, instruments, and performance instructions, then the synthesizer turns those instructions into sound.
In the fashion industry, midi refers to a skirt or dress with a hemline that hits midway between the knee and the ankle. This is not that kind of MIDI.
This player uses a bundled General MIDI sound bank, gm.dls, loaded through SpessaSynth. It also lets you open your own .sf2, .sf3, or .dls sound bank if you want a different set of instruments.
I created all the songs in the demo playlist. They will perhaps feature in an upcoming browser game one day.
